BOSTON, April 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Clear Ballot announced today the signing of a contract with Deschutes County, Oregon. Deschutes will begin implementation of the ClearVote voting system immediately in preparation for use in their next election in May. Deschutes joins many other Oregon counties using Clear Ballot technology, increasing the percentage of registered voters using ClearVote to 62% in the state.
Deschutes County chose ClearVote to increase efficiency in their election administration process. The ClearVote system eliminates many of the manual processes that have historically presented opportunities for error, and were inefficient and costly. In addition to streamlining physical processes, ClearVote increases election transparency to election judges, candidates, and the public.
Nancy Blankenship, Deschutes County Clerk said of the purchase, "Deschutes County Elections is delighted to become a Clear Ballot customer. Our primary goal in replacing our tabulation system was to change from physically enhancing or duplicating ballots to an on-screen adjudication method. The on-screen adjudication significantly enhances the process with a higher level of transparency, increased efficiencies, cost savings and greater audit capability."
ClearVote uses commercially available hardware paired with modern software to deliver a more affordable and scalable solution. Since the initial ClearVote certification in Oregon, Clear Ballot has implemented and certified several enhancements based on technology upgrades and feedback from customers, providing continuous innovation to Oregon counties.
"We're looking forward to working with Deschutes County," said Clear Ballot CEO Larry Moore. "As Clear Ballot continues to build momentum with counties in the Northwest switching to ClearVote, we hear about overwhelming improvements in efficiency, speed and overall performance from our customers not to mention saving time and money in the process."
