Deterra™ Drug Deactivation System to Be Highlighted and Samples Distributed as Innovative In-Home Opioid Disposal Solution During CADCA's 26th Annual Leadership Forum

MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Verde Technologies announced its Deterra Drug Deactivation System will be featured as part of an innovative program to safely dispose of opioid drugs during the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America's (CADCA) 26th Annual National Leadership Forum from February 1 through 4 in National Harbor, Maryland. The Deterra™ Drug Deactivation System is the only scientifically proven technology to safely deactivate and dispose of leftover prescription medications. On Thursday, February 4 at 9 a.m., CADCA leaders will host a training session to share their experiences in distributing Deterra through an innovative program in Florida. CADCA's pilot program includes working with four coalitions to identify best practices, distribute Deterra as a new technology in medicine disposal and deploy a survey to better understand attitudes and motivations surrounding the medicines in our homes. Florida coalitions from Collier, Hillsborough, Manatee and Seminole counties are disseminating more than 40,000 Deterra packages and sparking conversations in their community with a wide array of stakeholders.

CADCA forum attendees who attend the Feb. 4 session will receive Deterra samples.

Additional support from the Office of National Drug Control Policy was received through the inclusion of Drug Deactivation Systems in the 2015 strategy. For the first time, the recently revised strategy supports the deactivation and disposal of unwanted prescriptions in the home, which can safely minimize the potential for diversion or accidental poisoning.
