Kicking off in in the UK and Ireland in 2017, the show will then make its way to theatres across the world, stopping in the US, Canada, Australia, Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, South Korea and Thailand.
Danielle Tanton, Live Events and Attractions Manager at DHX Brands, said: "We are thrilled to work with the creative team at FieryLight to expand the magical world of Teletubbies into a live show, providing children and families with a whole new immersive theatre experience. FieryLight has a preeminent reputation in world-class kids' live entertainment so we are very excited about what's to come."
Martin Ronan, Executive Producer at FieryLight said "Having been fortunate enough to work with some world class brands over the past 10 years FieryLight are delighted to be working with DHX Brands to bring this classic property to the stage in 2017."
The stage show will bring Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa, Po and friends to theatres for their first ever dedicated theatrical tour. This is the first of many exciting developments ahead of the Teletubbies 20th Anniversary year in 2017. Further show details, including ticket sales, will be announced next year.
As the flagship property in DHX Media's strategy to build global brands, the new Teletubbies continues to perform extremely well and is gaining global momentum. To date, more than 85 consumer product licensees have been signed worldwide, including Character Options, VTech, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, and book publishers Egmont and Simon & Schuster. The new TV show has been picked up by 23 broadcasters worldwide, as well as Amazon Prime Video in the U.K. Commissioning broadcaster, CBeebies, has commissioned Teletubbies for season two, which will feature brand new elements, including 'The Hidey Hup' and 'Tubby Car'. In the U.S., Nick Jr. airs the show in its coveted 8am primetime slot. Both the show and toys are proving popular in the U.K., and consumer products are set to roll out in the U.S. and other territories beginning in 2017.
The Teletubbies show no sign of slowing down as they say 'Eh-Oh' to the 'Big two-oh'. DHX Brands is celebrating 20 years of everyone's favourite cuddly colourful foursome in 2017 with a host of special events and high-level partnerships and collaborations throughout the year. Special anniversary products including digital and major experiential retail initiatives will be supported by high impact PR stunts and national media and social media outreach.
