The survey polled radiologists, administrators, technologists, PACS/IT managers, students and residents about their salaries, work hours, career choice, and more. Respondents weighed in from the hospital setting, academic medical centers, outpatient imaging centers and private practice.
The survey offers a revealing look at radiology professionals' work/life balance and job satisfaction.
Here are a few highlights:
- More than 62 percent of respondents are logging between 41 and 75 hours a week, while just 2.6 percent are clocking 76 hours or more.
- About half of radiologists reported making between $300,000 and $450,000 last year. The mean salary for radiologists was about $400,000.
- On average, respondents rated their satisfaction with their salaries at 3.15 on a scale of 1 to 5. Nearly 11 percent gave it a 5, and 10 percent rated salaries at 1.
- On average, respondents rated their satisfaction with their career choice at a 4, and 35 percent gave it the highest mark.
