With the debut of the Miraj Diamond™ Platform, AKHAN Technologies, Inc. has developed a process in which n-type diamond material is created over silicon with previously undemonstrated characteristics, including:

• Shallow ionization energy of 250 meV,
• Higher carrier mobility (greater than 1000 cm(2)/VS in nanocrystalline diamond thin films),
• No graphitic phases, and
• High performance in low voltage high current diode device applications (900 A/mm(2) current density at +2V forward bias).

 

Directly challenging the domination of silicon, microchips fabricated from the Miraj Diamond™ Platform boast the capability to run electronics at higher speeds, with increased power handling capability, without overheating.  The Platform has the ability to yield the smaller, faster, and cheaper IT and consumer electronics applications of tomorrow.
