DICKEY-john Announces Improvement to GAC 2500-UGMA Grain Moisture Tester
The DICKEY-john GAC® 2500-UGMA now features a self-cleaning, non-contact infra-red temperature sensor for accurate grain measurements
AUBURN, Ill., Sept. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- DICKEY-john is pleased to announce that the GAC® 2500-UGMA Moisture Tester has been redesigned to add a self-cleaning feature to the non-contact infra-red (IR) temperature sensor. This next generation GAC 2500-UGMA is NTEP-approved and is GIPSA-Certified as UGMA-Compatible. NTEP and UGMA certifications of all GAC 2500-UGMA moisture testers previously manufactured remain valid.
"The ability to precisely measure grain temperature is fundamental to providing accurate moisture readings," said Roger VanderKolk, DICKEY-john Global Product Manager. "A non-contact temperature sensor responds much faster to temperature changes than a contact sensor because it does not act as a heat sink. Additionally, using a non-contact sensor allows the GAC 2500-UGMA to measure the temperature of the grain in the test cell where the moisture measurements occur, rather than in the hopper. This eliminates two potential sources of inaccuracy and provides a significant advantage over other moisture testers that use contact temperature sensors, including less advanced moisture testers."
The self-cleaning feature will significantly reduce, and in many cases eliminate, the need to manually clean the temperature sensor. The self-cleaning assembly is available for retrofit on existing GAC 2500-UGMA Moisture Testers. Customers interested in upgrading their moisture tester should contact their DICKEY-john representative.
