Dictators are Good for Two Dallas & Tulsa Area V.C. Companies
Addison, Texas-based Z-Acquisition Group has announced another startup launch, with the offering party slated for Wednesday, November 4, 2015.
DALLAS and FT.WORTH, Texas, Sept. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- 2015 has been another busy year for Addison, TX-based Z-Acquisition Group (ZAG), and the year appears to be only getting busier as they have teamed up with Tulsa, OK-based Idea Gateway to make today's formal announcement of the upcoming November offering party for their new wholesale aggregation service, Price Dictator.
While startup launches are part of the status quo for ZAG, offering parties are not. Six of their seven current investments have been self-financed, or "bootstrapped," to use the venture capital industry jargon. We asked Z-Acquisition Group why they were deviating from their status quo for the new Price Dictator startup, and Dennis Zedrick, Chairman of Z-Acquisition Group, told us: "I can't yet get into specifics about what industry segments Price Dictator will work with or what services it will provide, but this is essentially five startups wrapped into one." He continued, "Managing our current small portfolio of companies along with self-financing one startup every couple of years is prudent, but trying to self-finance five at once would be very risky and, quite frankly, it's not feasible for us. Furthermore, the current crop of aggregation-type businesses such as Uber, Hotels.com, Priceline, and so forth have not yet spread out into all of the old-school industry segments of the U.S. economy. In ten years, however, most of them will have been drilled, and pumped almost dry. Now is the time to get into those segments while there's still several years' worth of shallow oil to be had. Bringing in outside V.C. investors will also allow us to gain speed to market and corner all five of these virgin industry segments at the same time. We have looked at it from every angle and this just makes the most sense."
It is public knowledge that ZAG has offshore BPO investments, so we also asked them whether these new "dictator" services would be utilizing local Dallas- or Tulsa-based employees, or whether they would be run primarily by employees in their overseas offices. A ZAG representative responded, "Like any other good business today, it will be operated with a blend of software, Americans, and intelligent hard-working people from all over the globe."
