NEW YORK, April 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Dimension Data, the leading global ICT solutions and services provider, today announced it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the Challengers Quadrant of the April 9th Magic Quadrant for Managed Hosting, North America. Compiled by Gartner analysts, the Magic Quadrant examined 15 providers of managed hosting in North America, employing two main evaluation criteria: "ability to execute" and "completeness of vision."

"We believe our position in the Challengers Quadrant in North America is a reflection of our success in managing and delivering applications for enterprises and SaaS ISVs by combining highly scalable dedicated and hybrid cloud infrastructure with our SaaS operations managed services," said Steve Nola, CEO of Dimension Data's Cloud Solution Business Unit. "Dimension Data continues to invest in building solutions that improve web application performance and delivery for enterprises, SaaS providers and Internet businesses."

Jere Brown, Dimension Data Americas CEO, said, "Gartner's recognition of our managed hosting services in North America affirms that Dimension Data is regarded by industry analysts and clients within the managed hosting and cloud computing industries as a valuable partner with a strong future roadmap and a track record of successfully delivering applications."

In the report, Gartner states, "Most solutions for complex needs are hybrid, mixing different types of infrastructure to achieve cost-effectiveness and to meet the customer's availability, performance, security and IT operations requirements. ...Despite being in the media shadow of cloud computing, managed hosting remains the most appropriate solution for many organizations that want to outsource the infrastructure and IT operations management associated with an application or website."

Since the launch of its Cloud Solutions Business Unit in 2011, Dimension Data has expanded the footprint of its Managed Cloud Platforms (MCPs) to provide truly global availability of cloud and managed services with locations currently in Ashburn, Virginia and Santa Clara, California, U.S.; Amsterdam, the Netherlands; Sydney, Australia; Hong Kong, China; Johannesburg, South Africa; and in Japan in the next month.
