NASHVILLE, Tenn., Jan. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of the company's celebration of Black History Month, Direct Auto & Life Insurance is accepting nominations for community heroes in the areas they serve.
Up to $2,250 of cash prizes will be awarded to outstanding citizens who are making a positive impact on their community through volunteer service, mentorship or dedication of their resources.

"In observing Black History Month, we want to create a platform that celebrates our customers and their communities. We feel that honoring the people who are going above and beyond to make a difference in those communities is a great way to do that."
Nominations for the contest can be submitted by filling out a brief entry form at a Direct store location or online at www.directgeneral.com/BHM between Jan. 18 and Feb. 15. A selection committee will review the nominations and reward three finalists.
- Grand Prize: $1,000
- Second Place: $750
- Third Place: $500
In addition, the three individuals whose nominations are selected will receive a $100 gift card for their participation. The winners of the contest will be notified prior to March 1.
