Distant Family was created with child safety in mind. There are no public rooms, no ads to children, no friends, no strangers, and a chat room only exists when a parent occupies it. When the parent creates a room they send the room id to their child using an offline method, such as a text message or phone call. With help from their attending parent, a child can access the room and verify themselves by taking their picture or entering a code.
Once the connection between browsers is complete, the fun begins. Features include:
Secured/encrypted video conversations
No ads to children
Room name reservation with subscription
2-player, child-oriented games
Video animation overlays
Save camera snapshots
Text message windows
