Ditch The Avatar And Take A Selfkie
New app for iOS keyboard reinvents the way people express themselves on messaging
NEW YORK, Sept. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today is the launch of Selfkie, the iOS keyboard for ultimate self-expression. Until now, messaging has been limited to a standardized emoji system that doesn't allow for true expression. With Selfkie, users can create their own collections of self-expressive keyboards and send Selfkies directly from their keyboard, while also creating a unique way for talent to interact with their fan base; for free and in less than two minutes.
Founded by Jonah Kaner and Ari Goldberg, Selfkie is the culmination of 10+ years thinking about the digital media and messaging space, which led to the concept which took 4 months to develop. Ari was the Founder and CEO of StyleCaster (acquired by SheKnows, 2014) and Co-Founder of Sociocast (acquired by Aol, 2015). Prior to StyleCaster he was brought on to help start LRMR, LeBron James' marketing company. Jonah and Ari first connected when he interned at StyleCaster at 15. With an entrepreneurial and marketing background, Jonah has run digital strategy for an elite list of brands and notable personalities. In 2014, he launched RapKey, one of the first iOS keyboard apps, that featured one click rap lyric and emojis.
"In our minds, self-expression starts with a selfie, and in today's world, who is NOT a selfie enthusiast (or addict?!). You can now create Selfkie keyboards full of anything that means something to you...pets, food, friends, family, the possibilities are endless," Jonah says. "But don't stop there! As celebrities and friends begin to create their own keyboards you'll be able to install and send Selfkies of them as well."
"It essentially gives the users the ability to curate a keyboard to best express themselves. What's better than a smiley face emoji to send to a loved one, or a smiley faced selfie of the best-looking person ever seen on an iPhone... you!" added Ari. "We are here on behalf of all you gorgeous digital connoisseurs to make communication more fun and personal."
