D.O. La Mancha Wines Headline In LA And Chicago With The 10% Produced From The Region With Designation Of Origin
D.O. distinction awarded to only ten percent of wines from the region
WASHINGTON, June 11, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Only ten percent of the wines produced in the La Mancha region receive the coveted Designation of Origin (D.O.) distinction. Tasting events in Chicago and Los Angeles next week will provide a rare opportunity to discover these wines of distinction from central Spain, as representatives from 17 Spanish wineries (bodegas) showcase their products for the U.S. market.
The D.O. distinction is only awarded to wines that adhere to quality, source, and origin standards set by a local Control Board. Consumers can have confidence that each D.O. La Mancha bottle is given a serial number certifying it has met the required standards, and that serial number and the D.O. certification appear on a secondary label.

"D.O. La Mancha bodegas produce quality wines for every palate," said a representative from the Regulatory Council of Appellation of Origin. "The wide variety of grapes contributes to a consistent supply of wines throughout the year, including many lower alcohol wines—all available at one of the best price/quality ratios in the world."
At the June events, wine retailers, journalists, sommeliers, and other trade and media representatives will have a chance to sample a wide array of white, red, rose, and sparkling wines. In addition to the tastings, Master Sommelier Erik Entrikin, MS, will lead a corresponding seminar exploring the region, and what he has characterized as "the most successful dry farming experiment in the world."
The Los Angeles event will be held on Thursday, June 12, and the Chicago event will be held on Monday, June 16. Both events begin with the seminar at 11:00 a.m., followed by luncheon and tastings at noon.
