Document Security Systems, Inc. Signs Technology Licensing Agreement With Midwest Banknote Company
ROCHESTER, N.Y., March 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Document Security Systems, Inc. (Amex: DMC) ("DSS"), a leader in counterfeit prevention technologies and manufactured printed products today announced that it has signed a licensing agreement with Buffalo, NY-based security printer Midwest Banknote Company. Founded in 1956, Midwest Banknote Company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Thomas Greg & Sons Ltd., one of the world's largest providers of security products and services for the banking, government and industrial commerce markets.
As part of the two-year agreement, Midwest Banknote has been granted a license to produce printed products such as certificates of origin (motor vehicle documents), vital statistical documents (birth, death, marriage records), stock certificates, coupons, passports, and other products mutually agreed to, for its government, educational and corporate clients containing DSS's AuthentiGuard® counterfeit prevention technologies.
The agreement is non–exclusive for the U.S. market only and DSS revenue is captured on a "per unit-produced" basis. In addition, Midwest Banknote Company will also provide DSS with supplemental security printing production capabilities.
The AuthentiGuard® suite of technologies developed and patented by DSS represent the leading counterfeit prevention and print security and authentication technologies on the market today and are the most effective optical deterrent security technologies that work with current models of digital copiers, imaging systems and scanners.
