SPRINGFIELD, Va., Oct. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Dogtopia, a leading national dog daycare and spa franchise, announced today its first multi-unit franchisee, Amber Sutton. Amber will be opening her second Dogtopia in Springfield, Va. to complement her successful Woodbridge, Va. location. This new development is part of Dogtopia's aggressive growth campaign to expand its brand to more than 400 locations across the U.S. and Canada over the next seven years. With services ranging from open play dog daycare and overnight boarding to spa services, Springfield residents will now have a place to take their pets to be pampered.
A grand opening celebration will take place at the Dogtopia Springfield located on 7401 Fullerton Road, Suite A on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Guests will enjoy music, tours of the facility and delicious tacos from the food truck District Tacos. A photographer will also be on hand offering free photos of guests with their pets.
"After having such great success with my first Dogtopia location, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to open a second Dogtopia location," said franchise owner Amber Sutton. "I'm thrilled to expand my relationship with Dogtopia and continue to combine my business experience with my love for animals."
Sutton first discovered Dogtopia while helping a friend find a place to board her dog and was immediately impressed by the concept. After touring several locations, she decided it was the perfect business venture and in 2008 opened her first Dogtopia location in Woodbridge, Va. The success and demand was so great, she is now opening her second Dogtopia location in Springfield, becoming the company's first multi-unit franchisee.
"We are very excited to announce our first multi-unit franchisee and could not think of a better franchisee than Amber Sutton," said Amy Nichols, chief executive officer of Dogtopia. "Her strong track record, experience and passion for dogs will prove beneficial as she opens her second location and as we continue to expand our unique concept into new markets."
Since Dogtopia launched in 2002, it has grown to 25 locations nationwide and currently has four additional locations, in various stages of development, planning to open by the end of this year. Dogtopia's design mirrors that of a chic, upscale spa. Laid out in a similar manner to a children's daycare facility, Dogtopia has multiple playrooms to suit every personality and size. In addition to daycare and boarding, it also offers a spa, self-service dog wash, and boutique to pamper dogs of all shapes and sizes. Dogtopia's clients enjoy an open layout with play equipment and special rubber flooring to ease joints, prevent slipping, and provide a safer play area.
The division of dogs between rooms allows Dogtopia personnel to control air quality, prevent accidents, and provide an overall stress-free atmosphere. Generally, 25-30 dogs play in each room and Dogtopia employs web camera technology in each room that allows the dogs' owners to check on their pets during playtime.
Dogtopia®, prides itself on being a place where pets are valued as family and dogs enjoy playtime, spa treatments, and overnight stays in a positive environment. Dog owners have the assurance of leaving their pets in the hands of trained professionals while they're at work or away on vacation. Dogtopia® associates nurture each and every pet as if it were their own. Each location offers dog daycare, boarding, spa services, and most also have professional grooming. Dogtopia does not breed discriminate and welcomes social dogs of all ages, sizes, and abilities. The company was founded by Amy Nichols in 2002 and began franchising in 2005. Currently, there are 22 Dogtopia franchises and three company-owned locations in operation across the U.S., with four more in development for a total of 29 to open by year-end.
