MUNICH, Dec. 8, 2010 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dot Hill Systems Corp. (Nasdaq: HILL), a leading provider of Unified Virtual Storage and SAN storage solutions, today announced a new OEM agreement with Wortmann AG, a Germany-based IT solutions provider specializing in small to medium business and home user markets through the European distribution channel.
Wortmann's success is founded on the evaluation, development and integration of cost effective IT solutions covering mobile, desktop, server, storage and display technologies through their long established Terra® brand portfolio. With more than 24 years of experience, Wortmann is one of the leading IT companies in Germany with subsidiaries in Austria, Switzerland, France, Netherlands and Asia.
Under the terms of the agreement, Wortmann will use Dot Hill solutions to develop their Terra IT solution portfolio and greatly expand the range of storage solutions available to their customers. "Dot Hill is well established as a leading manufacturer in the storage industry and their RAID technology has been proven by many of today's leading storage vendors. Dot Hill 3000 Series providing competitive advantage for OEMs
At the heart of the new agreement is the Dot Hill AssuredSAN 3000 Series, a range of feature-rich, entry level storage solutions that rival more costly midrange products and enable OEMs such as Wortmann to provide small-to-medium businesses and data centre managers with access to cost-effective and energy-efficient storage options that previously may have been beyond the scope of their budgets. The 3000 Series also includes robust volume copy, snapshot and remote replication software as standard, making affordable, comprehensive disaster recovery solutions available to the entry level space.
The 3000 Series features the very latest storage networking technologies such as 8Gb Fibre Channel and more recently 10Gb iSCSI which opens the door to Fibre Channel levels of SAN performance for small to medium sized business based on standard Ethernet networking technology. Additionally, the 3000 Series also features Dot Hill's patented EcoStor™ "green" battery-free alternative for cache memory, which leverages a combination of super capacitors and flash memory that outlasts traditional batteries nearly fivefold. Business benefits include lower maintenance and disposal costs and reduced server and application down time due to scheduled battery replacement and maintenance.
