Douglas Green Of DGB (PTY) Ltd Is South Africa's Winery Of The Year At 2014 New York International Wine Competition
PAARL, South Africa, Sept. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The New York International Wine Competition announced last month that DGB (PTY) Ltd in business as a Wine producer and Wholesaler in South Africa was chosen as South Africa's 2014 winery of the year.
The competition judged close to 1000 wines from both the United States and over 30 countries from all over the world. Fewer than 35% of the entrants received medals.
DGB won medals for their 2013 Bellingham Citrus Grove Chenin Blanc, 2013 Brampton Sauvignon Blanc, 2013 Rib Shack Red by Douglas Green and the 2013 Beachhouse Sauvignon Blanc by Douglas Green.
At the New York International Wine Competition, judges are wine buyers and sommeliers, and the wines are grouped by category and retail price. Since the judges all make wine purchasing decisions for their stores, restaurants and distribution networks, winning wineries often see a direct impact on sales immediately following the competition.
"We are ecstatic to receive the South African Winery of the year at the NY International Wine Competition. This comes on the heels of winning Red Wine of the Year from Decanter Magazine for the 2011 Bellingham Bush Vine Pinotage," said Brad Gold, International Marketing Manager of DGB Wines.
"This award further demonstrates that DGB wines are hitting the mark in terms of flavor and quality as the panel of judges from the U.S. wine trade know the wines that would be preferred by their customers," says Gold.
DGB wines are available nationally through Pacific Highway Wines & Spirits and include the brands Douglas Green, Bellingham, Brampton, Boschendal, and The Beachhouse.
