"My brother and I view our family company as a social engine that does business so we can do good," says Michael Bronner, President of Dr. Bronner's. "With current business out-pacing projections, we are excited to invest those profits into causes that we believe in."
This news follows the company's donation of $250,000 to The Fairness Project and $660,000 total to New Approach and the Marijuana Policy Project last month, as well as $100,000 to the Yes on 3 campaign in Massachusetts to end the cruel confinement of veal calves, egg-laying hens and pigs in that state.
The company has also announced a list of smaller but significant donations to groups spanning election and drug policy reform, animal advocacy, regenerative agriculture and efforts to curb climate change. Among these is support for Measure K&L in San Diego that would pass common-sense reforms to San Diego's election process to ensure that big decisions on local candidates and local ballot measures are scheduled when the most people participate.
"Our support for efforts to raise the minimum wage, create sensible drug policy reform, reduce the suffering of farm animals, and transition to healthier and more sustainable food system, is all part of a moral imperative we feel that we have as a successful company," says David Bronner, Cosmic Engagement Officer (CEO) of Dr. Bronner's.
Dr. Bronner's is a family business committed to honoring the vision of founder Emanuel Bronner by making socially and environmentally responsible products of the highest quality, and by dedicating profits to help make a better world. Dr. Bronner's commitment to progressive business practices, social justice and environmental sustainability is part of the company's mission to put into practice the principles that inform the philosophy printed on the company's iconic soap labels written by founder Emanuel Bronner. The company is the top-selling natural soap maker in North America and a major brand worldwide. Based on 2015 sales, a bottle of Dr. Bronner's soap was sold, on average, every 3 seconds throughout the year.
