Dr. Joel Sokol and David Eckoff Join the CSA Advisory Board
ATLANTA, June 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Competitive Sports Analysis (www.competitivesportsanalysis.com), a software company that provides highly accurate predictive data analysis for fantasy sports players, today announced that Dr. Joel Sokol and David Eckoff have joined the Competitive Sports Analysis (CSA) Advisory Board.
Dr. Joel Sokol is an associate professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology in the Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering and who specializes in sports modeling. Dr. Sokol's research interests include operations research and its application in a wide variety of areas, from logistics, manufacturing, and network design to biology, social logistics, and sports modeling. Dr. Sokol's LRMC method (predictive modeling for the NCAA basketball tournament) has been featured in the New York Times, CNN and ESPN.
"Dr. Sokol is an excellent choice to advise CSA as we continue to grow our business and build on our successful offerings for sports," Diane Bloodworth, Founder of CSA, said. "I first became aware of Dr. Sokol a few of years ago when he was interviewed by the Atlanta Journal Constitution about the computer model he created to accurately predict NCAA basketball tournament brackets."
"I'm excited to be part of CSA and their quantitative analytical methods for sports," Dr. Sokol said. "When Fantasy Sports participants sign up for the service and see the end results, I'm sure they'll be as excited as I am."
David Eckoff, an online sports industry veteran, has also joined the CSA Advisory Board. Eckoff has served as Vice President, New Product Development at Turner Broadcasting. While at Turner, he developed and launched PlayOn Sports, an online sports network that webcast live events for the ACC, the Big Ten and the United Soccer League. Prior to joining Turner, Eckoff was a Senior Director at RealNetworks Inc, where he developed the company's streaming online sports initiatives, led the live online video hit "CBS Big Brother 24/7″ and invented an online network for the long tail of video, a forerunner of YouTube. He also negotiated deals with FOX Sports, ESPN, CSTV, CBS television and more. Before joining Real, Eckoff was Senior Vice-President at Rivals.com, a 180-employee start-up funded by Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, Softbank, Intel, and News Corporation (Fox). While at Rivals, he developed the Rivals.com branded sports news network destination and grew its audience from startup to 1.5 million users per month.
"David Eckoff's experience in working with many of the leading online sports properties is extremely valuable to CSA," Bloodworth said. "He can look at our business on many levels and help us determine where we should put our focus and resources to grow our company."
"When I select startups to advise, I look for founders who have an uncommon mix, an ability to execute and willingness to be coached," Eckoff said. "Diane Bloodworth has impressed me on both counts. The fantasy sports market is enormous and CSA's web-based predictive analysis software has great potential."
