Dr. Lynn Westphal of Stanford University School of Medicine named Chief Medical Officer of Kindbody

NEW YORK, Dec. 4, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Kindbody, a company building women's health clinics starting in New York City and San Francisco, is announcing the hire of Dr. Lynn Westphal from Stanford Medical School as Chief Medical Officer, Reproductive Endocrinology. Kindbody, led by former CEO of Progyny, Gina Bartasi, is building boutique women's healthcare facilities through mobile and brick-and-mortar locations, with technology and patient experience at its core. Dr. Westphal joins Kindbody from her positions at Stanford as Professor and Director of the Fertility Preservation Program, as well as Director of the Reproductive Endocrinology (REI) fellowship program for training new fertility specialists. She previously served as the Director of Women's Health from 2005-2012. "This is an opportunity to raise the overall quality of care. People stay away from the medical system when they feel like it isn't designed for them," says Westphal. "Women want to be listened to, and they want to be treated as a whole person, not as separate body parts. Kindbody's approach is the way medicine should be moving."

Founding Physician Dr. Fahimeh Sasan, an Ob/Gyn who joined Kindbody after 12 years at Mount Sinai, led the recruiting efforts. "Lynn is the perfect person to inspire our clinical staff to always put the patient first. She shares our vision of combining today's best evidence-based medicine with a new approach to the patient experience. I look forward to her mentorship."

As CMO, Dr. Westphal will be responsible for leading the development of all clinical protocols and standards for clinical excellence, overseeing quality control processes, as well as fertility specialist recruitment and retainment. "It's my job to make sure we have the best quality care consistently delivered at every location," says Westphal. She will also lead research efforts utilizing the outcomes data from Kindbody's proprietary electronic medical record system, KindEMR, originally acquired from Dr. Jacques Cohen, a pioneer in embryology techniques. "There's still a lot to learn from these data. Many times we've thought we are doing the right thing and then later learned we needed to refine our thinking. With useable EMR data, we have an opportunity to see trends that haven't been seen before."

The majority of fertility clinics today are run by men and the majority of fertility doctors are also men. Kindbody is run and designed by women. "I am so impressed with the team.
