Duquesne Light Energy Expands Retail Electricity Supply to 12 Pennsylvania Counties
Competitive Offerings Attract Business Customers Seeking Savings, Risk Management and Cost Containment
PITTSBURGH, May 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Duquesne Light Energy, LLC ("DLE"), one of the largest competitive electricity suppliers to business customers in Western Pennsylvania, announced a regional expansion for marketing its electricity to customers in the utility service territories of Penn Power and West Penn Power.
An unregulated subsidiary of Duquesne Light Holdings, DLE's expansion was fueled by requests from existing customers in Allegheny and Beaver counties that wanted those contractual benefits extended to their other Western Pennsylvania locations.
"Since 2004, we've been a leading electricity supplier helping Pittsburgh area businesses minimize their operating costs through the benefits of the deregulated market," said Cliff Blashford, president of Duquesne Light Energy. "We continue to experience high retention rates of customers in our primary footprint, and that supported the need for our regional expansion in Pennsylvania."
Business and facility operators in 12 Pennsylvania counties are now able to select Duquesne Light Energy as their electricity supplier. The company's service territory extends north to Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties; south to Washington, Greene, and Fayette counties; and east to Westmoreland and Armstrong counties. DLE also supplies several Central Pennsylvania areas, such as State College, St. Mary's and Chambersburg. Duquesne Light Energy has served customers in Allegheny and Beaver counties since its inception.
The recent drop in energy commodity prices has created a highly competitive electricity market, with customers having a choice of several suppliers. According to Blashford, "We help customers make an educated decision prior to executing any supply agreement, which is what makes Duquesne Light Energy unique from other suppliers. Each account manager at DLE is a degreed engineer with the expertise to design the lowest cost energy supply option customized to the customer's needs. We help customers achieve a balance between budget certainty, price risk and savings. Then we act as ongoing advisors, further helping them understand and manage their electricity usage to minimize cost."
As an unregulated subsidiary of Duquesne Light Holdings, a 120-year-old Pittsburgh-based utility, Duquesne Light Energy is part of a financially stable company with deep Pennsylvania roots.
