e-Image Data Announces Lawsuit Against ST Imaging
HARTFORD, Wis., June 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- e-ImageData, a leading manufacturer of the microfilm scanning systems used in the world's most prestigious libraries and institutions, has filed a lawsuit against ST Imaging for a permanent injunction and monetary damages stemming from ST Imaging's false and misleading advertising and statements made to e-Image's current and prospective customers.
In its advertising and statements, ST Imaging alleges it has obtained OSHA required NRTL (National Recognized Test Laboratories) workplace safety certifications for its products. It has not. e-Image Data reviewed the certification directory and it does not list ST Imaging or its products as certified. Thus, ST Imaging has failed to have their products tested and certified as safe for use in the workplace as required by OSHA, even though they claim they have done so.
ST Imaging has also been asserting that the e-Image microfilm scanner does not have a 26 megapixel camera. The e-Image camera is 26 megapixels. "We start with a 6.6 megapixel sensor and using hardware capture 26 megapixels of optical image data to create a single high resolution image. "In fact, e-Image uses the same method for counting camera megapixels as is used by well-known imaging corporations such as Olympus, Zeiss, Leica, Nikon and others," says James Westoby, president of e-ImageData.
Additionally, ST imaging makes claims of possessing product features that it does not have and misrepresents product features found on e-Image ScanPro microfilm scanners. These myriad of claims are detailed in the full complaint.
"e-ImageData takes pride in our constant innovation and commitment to keeping our customers at the cutting edge of digital scanner technology. While e-ImageData is perfectly willing to compete in the marketplace, it is important to level the playing field so the customer can fairly evaluate choices," says Westoby.
"Due to the attempts by ST Imaging to confuse our customers, we had no choice but to file a lawsuit asserting unfair competition violations against ST Imaging," says Westoby. This lawsuit was filed on May 30, 2015 in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. e-ImageData intends to aggressively protect its rights.
In business since 1989, e-Image Data is the industry leader in the design, manufacture, and distribution of micrographic equipment. The ScanPro microfilm scanners are the equipment of choice in the world's most prestigious libraries and institutions.
