e-MDs Named Austin's Top Biomedical Research & Development Employer

AUSTIN, Texas, June 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- e-MDs, a leading provider of electronic health records (EHRs) and practice management (PM) solutions, was recently named by the Austin Business Journal as the top biomedical research and development employer in the Austin, Texas metropolitan area.

The announcement was made today at e-MDs' 10^th Annual User Conference and Symposium, which is drawing more than 750 physicians and practice administrators from across the nation to the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center in Austin. The conference runs through Saturday, June 7^th.

e-MDs, which has more than 200 employees, tops the list of 21 Austin-area firms ranked by the number of local employees. The list, which grew by 40 percent in its second year, spans a wide array of specialties, from Austin-area firms offering contract research to those focused on implant technology, immunology, diagnostic kits and bioanalysis of genetic data.

Any firm involved with biomedical products and services that has an R&D component locally is eligible to participate in the annual ranking of firms.  The list is compiled by the staff of the Austin Business Journal under the supervision of Patricia Rogers, the research director. It will be included in the Annual Book of Lists published by the Austin Business Journal.
