FRANKFORT, Ky., Nov. 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- With $80,000 in total prize money available to charitable causes, Eagle Rare Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey announced the leading nominees for its 2017 Eagle Rare Life Award, an award that recognizes people who live lives which embody Eagle Rare's passion for excellence and demonstrate the epitome of courage, leadership, survival, heroism, devotion and character.
Nominations are still being accepted through January 4, 2017. Winners will be selected from among the top 30 stories that receive the most votes, with $50,000 awarded to the grand prize winner's charity early next year. In addition to the grand prize, six others will be selected for each key Rare Life characteristic and awarded $5,000 to the charity of their choice. This is the seventh year for the Rare Life awards, and the 2017 grants will bring the total awarded to charities to $400,000.
With less than three months remaining in the nomination process, the most popular nominees come from a diverse group. The 30 nominees who have received the most votes since the contest launched are (in alphabetical order):

More than 200 stories have been submitted through Eagle Rare's website since the contest launched in late May. In addition to the Grand Prize award winner receiving a $50,000 donation to the charity of their choice, the winner will also receive an award ceremony in their hometown, hosted by Eagle Rare Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
