SharePoint Information Architecture: How to Optimize Findability in SharePoint
This 2-day hands-on course provides a practical introduction to key information architecture concepts and delivers the knowledge needed to apply these concepts to SharePoint 2010. The course is unique in the level of attention given to content type definition, taxonomy, and metadata. The course is intended for SharePoint professionals who need a stronger grounding in information architecture and guidance on how to configure SharePoint to meet search and navigation requirements.
The first course is scheduled for December 8-9, 2011 in Boston, MA with other cities planned for Q1 2012. Earley & Associates' CEO, Seth Earley, will lead the course. Mr. Earley is a well-known thought leader in the taxonomy, metadata and search community. He recently taught a highly-regard SharePoint Information Architecture workshop at the SLA's national conference.
Speaking about the growing importance in developing this skill set, Mr. Earley said, "SharePoint 2010 leverages taxonomy and metadata in ways that prior versions and other tools have not. Content models, schema's, workflow processes, and site architecture all have to be thoughtfully designed with use cases and user scenarios in mind. The IA process has never been more important for SharePoint development."
Participants in the course will receive a copy of the MetaVis Architect Suite for SharePoint to help graphically design a SharePoint information architecture. MetaVis Architect Suite is a complete set of tools for designing, deploying, migrating and managing SharePoint and Office 365 SharePoint. It includes metadata and migration software to help build taxonomy structures and move or classify content in SharePoint. With one tool users can easily organize SharePoint information.
"More companies are using SharePoint as their system of record and properly designing the information architecture is essential to its long-term success within a company," said Steve Pogrebivsky, CEO and Co-founder of MetaVis Technologies. "The IA training will provide users the knowledge and tools need to easily design, migrate, classify and manage SharePoint for a well-organized and compliant environment."
Registration is now open for the SharePoint Information Architecture training course. Those who register by November 15, 2011 get $400 off of the regular price using coupon code: SPIA_DISC.
