BOSTON, Sept. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Eaton Vance National Municipal Opportunities Trust (NYSE: EOT) (the "Trust"), a closed-end management investment company, today announced the earnings of the Trust for the three months ended June 30, 2011.  The Trust's fiscal year ends on March 31, 2012.

For the three months ended June 30, 2011, the Trust had net investment income of $4,612,345 ($0.302 per common share).  In comparison, for the three months ended June 30, 2010, the Trust had net investment income of $4,737,654 ($0.310 per common share).

Net realized and unrealized gains for the three months ended June 30, 2011 were $13,033,403 ($0.852 per common share).  In comparison, net realized and unrealized losses for the three months ended June 30, 2010 were $382,660 ($0.025 per common share).

On June 30, 2011, net assets of the Trust were $308,501,503.  The net asset value per share on June 30, 2011 was $20.17 based on 15,294,435 shares outstanding.  In comparison, on June 30, 2010, net assets of the Trust were $323,947,058.  The net asset value per share on June 30, 2010 was $21.20 based on 15,277,613 shares outstanding.
