ECDC Announces Strong Demand for StudentConnect in the US Five School Districts Request Pilot Test in April
ATLANTA, May 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- East Coast Diversified Corporation (OTCQB: ECDC), parent company of StudentConnect, announced today it is seeing a strong demand for the StudentConnect technology in the US, as 5 school districts requested during April to pilot the school transportation technology in the following weeks.
The StudentConnect technology provides real-time notification to parents and school transportation officials when students fail to get on the school bus; enters or exits the school bus at the wrong stop. The system will also send notifications regarding any other anomaly that may occur during transit. StudentConnect notifies parents within 5 minutes of bus arrival. The first pilot project for the technology was initiated by Gordon County School District in GA.
"We are particularly excited about this development, not just because of the number schools that requested pilot programs but that the requests were spread across the country from California all the way to the southeast and east coast regions. It is an indication of the universal need to solve a problem that is a concern to educators and school transportation administrators across the country," said Kayode Aladesuyi, CEO ECDC.
StudentConnect uses ECDC's proprietary "wireless communication between GPS and UHF RFID interrogators" technology to deliver notifications to parents and school officials. StudentConnect is a free service sponsored by local and corporate advertisers. The system is provided to School districts at zero cost for both hardware and ongoing communication services.
"We are prepared to fulfill the needs as we get them," said Andrej Jeremic, Director Business Development. "It is quite refreshing after so many years in R&D to get such positive response to the solution we have developed, and our technology team is prepared to meet customized application as each school faces different operational challenges on a daily basis," Andrej continued.
The company's focus is on piloting 15 and 20 school districts over the summer with objective of rolling out full implementation for all schools that would want to deploy the system on their school buses in the upcoming school year.
