Eco Red Shield Burn Demonstration Hosted By Oceanside Fire Department
Eco Building Products Hosts an Extraordinarily Successful Burn Demonstration of Eco Red Shield™ Protection vs. Raw Lumber Structure
VISTA, Calif., Oct. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Eco Building Products, Inc. (OTCBB: ECOB) gathered construction professionals, firemen, and media personnel today at Oceanside, CA. Fire Training Center to witness a controlled burn of two structures, one built from raw lumber and one with Eco Red Shield™ protection, to demonstrate the fire inhibition capabilities of ECOB's flagship product.
The results were phenomenal. Each fire began with small kindling next to a window drape simulating an electrical outlet fire. Within ninety seconds, the walls of both structures had caught fire and in less than three minutes from initial ignition, the drapes were completely engulfed. However, the structure with Eco Red Shield™ quickly stalled the flames, eventually extinguishing them completely and showing only minimal charring to some of the wall panels. In contrast, the raw lumber structure was completely in flames within five minutes, experiencing roof failure just three minutes later and total structural failure at eleven minutes into the burn.
Failure analysis of both structures revealed extremely interesting results. The raw structure burned as expected. The drapery ignited accelerating the flames up the wall and into the attic. Once the flames reached the attic the roof trusses and roof sheeting propagated the fire throughout the entire structure leading to total failure. In contrast the Eco Red Shield treated building indicated charring of the roof trusses and roof sheeting from the drapery flames; however no ignition was present containing the fire to the corner of the structure which virtually self-extinguished.
Battalion Chief Terry Collis, of the Oceanside Fire Department stated "If it does burn, it's going to take a lot longer to get going and that allows you more time to figure it out." Firemen's biggest fear is floor and roof failure while fighting fires. The more time firemen have to vent the roof and rescue fire victim's saves everyone's life. "I want this in my house," added Chief Terry Collis.
Eco Building Products has been ramping up production and operations of its proprietary Eco Red Shield™ product line in anticipation of entering the consumer market. Gaining momentum with recent certifications from QAI Laboratories, ICC-ES evaluation report and GREENGUARD Children & Schools(SM), making it the first environmentally-friendly lumber treatment approved for all-home construction, providing protection from wood-rot decay, termite damage, fire and mold inhibitors while achieving the industry's highest indoor air quality standards.
"I'm very proud of my team at Eco," stated the company's CEO and President Steve Conboy. "With results like today's we are hoping to support the roof truss industry since the lumber can now be Class A non-corrosive for every house built with light weight construction."
