The idea for creating an "innovation outpost" came from discussions between Econic and Nelnet about ways to further impact the growing startup and innovation ecosystem in the region. The involvement of Nelnet, along with Speedway Motors, to create an expanded collaboration center in the heart of the Haymarket in Lincoln will enable Econic to work with the FUSE Community and others to create more opportunities to accelerate learning in the creation of new products, ventures, and investments.
"We kept hearing from our clients that there needed to be a place where innovation officers, product managers, and corporate entrepreneurs could get out of the building to collaborate, learn, and work with others," shared Josh Berry, Econic co-founder. "We wanted to create an ability for corporate innovators to learn best practices, experiment, and build in an environment designed to foster new connections and new ways of thinking."
In addition to workshops, training and research programs available to the public, Econic will offer dedicated office and coworking space so that enterprises can locate innovation teams offsite and outside their traditional corporate office locations. Teams located at Econic will also receive access and services available through FUSE Coworking. "Adding Econic to the FUSE community is another major step in enhancing and expanding the innovation and collaboration that takes place here. The combination of startups, corporate innovators, tech talent, dedicated space and events makes this a unique asset to Lincoln and the Midwest." said Lana Zumbrunn, Executive Director of FUSE Coworking.
Econic's Innovation Outpost, expected to open late May, will be accessed through FUSE Coworking and located on the fourth floor of 151 N. 8th Street in Lincoln, Nebraska.
