Edison Festival of Light Opens Registration For First Virtual 5K Run
FORT MYERS, Fla., Nov. 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Now is your chance to spend the winter in Florida – even if it is virtually! Registration for the Edison Festival of Light's first "Snowbird Flurry" Virtual 5K on Nov. 19 is now open on www.edisonfestival.org. The virtual 5K is a way for participants to build confidence toward their running and overall fitness goals at their own pace.
A virtual run is a self-motivated race that can take place in any location. Participants can walk or use a treadmill indoors. Entrants run or walk at their own pace and can complete the 5K independently or with a group. Groups report their members' finishing times to the Edison Festival of Light website by Nov. 30 to compete for their team name to be on the leader board on the website.
Runners and walkers can use the hashtag, #SnowbirdFlurry, to post their pictures of their "Snowbird Flurry" accomplishments on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for a chance to be featured in the annual commemorative program. In addition, this is a great preparation and training for the Edison Festival of Light 5K, which will be held in Fort Myers, FL on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017.
The $35 registration includes a "Snowbird Flurry" t-shirt, a medal, and a race bib.
