CHARLESTON, W.Va., Oct. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- West Virginia's three major organizations representing teachers and other school workers have endorsed Delegate Doug Skaff in the race for the West Virginia Senate from the 17th District in Kanawha County. He has received endorsements from the political action committees of the West Virginia Education Association, the American Federation of Teachers-West Virginia and the West Virginia School Services Personnel Association.
"West Virginia invests significant resources in public education and higher education," Skaff said. "We must work to assure that our students get the best education possible because they must compete in a global economy."
The education groups are among almost two dozen organizations representing both business and labor that have endorsed Skaff in the Senate race.
Speaking on behalf of the AFT-Committee on Political Education (COPE), AFT-WV President Christine Campbell said, "We need elected officials who fight for public education and economic development. Doug Skaff has done that in the House of Delegates, and we know he will continue to fight for us in the Senate."
Dale Lee, chairman of the West Virginia Education Association-Political Action Committee, said, "Doug has always been supportive of the education needs of our students and the needs of our teachers and service professionals."
