EFESTE Winery Welcomes Peter Devison to Winemaking Team

WOODINVILLE, Wash., Aug. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- EFESTE winery is enjoying its fourth consecutive year of growth in production and sixty acres of estate vineyards nearing maturity. As they ramp up for 2012 crush, they announce the addition of accomplished winemaker Peter Devison to the winemaking team.

Devison, a Nova Scotia native, relocated to Washington State in 2004 where he began crafting award-winning wine. He joins EFESTE's now consulting winemaker Brennon Leighton , who followed consulting winemaker Chris Upchurch 2005-2007.

Leighton's personal selection of Devison is reflective of his respect for Devison's experience in reductive winemaking, a distinctive old-world style where the winemaker takes steps to limit the wine's exposure to oxygen -- a technique seldom seen in Washington.

According to Leighton, "Peter's knowledge of our winemaking style is incredible. We have similar philosophies and perspectives that will make for a great progression. It's like being in a foreign country and finding someone who can speak your language!"

Leighton continues as EFESTE's consulting winemaker based in Eastern Washington, a move that brings him one step closer to EFESTE's estate vineyards and a position that allows him to work with other wineries.
