Eggo® Celebrates International Waffle Day With Contest Announcement
Waffle fans can submit unique recipes for chance to win $10,000 grand prize
BATTLE CREEK, Mich., March 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- To celebrate International Waffle Day on March 25, Eggo is challenging families to get crafty in the kitchen and show their love for waffles by entering the 2014 Eggo™ Your Way Contest. From snacks to desserts, waffle fans can submit their unique waffle-based recipes beginning March 31 on the Eggo Facebook page for a chance to win $10,000.
"Eggo waffles aren't just for breakfast. With more than 20 varieties to choose from, Eggo waffles can be transformed into Panini's, sliders and even ice cream treats," said Andrew Loucks, president of Kellogg Frozen Food. "For families that enjoy cooking together, Eggo waffles are tasty, versatile canvases that allow kids to stretch their imaginations with sweet or savory recipes the whole family will enjoy."
In fact, according to a new survey by Eggo1, moms say their kids would pick Eggo waffles as the star ingredient when crafting their perfect meal, ranking higher than hot dogs and even peanut butter. Additional survey findings show nearly a quarter of moms say their favorite way to spend time with their kids is by creating a snack or meal together, and nearly one third of those same moms spend one to two hours each week in the kitchen with their kids cooking or creating snacks together.
Eggo fans can enter the Eggo™ Your Way contest from March 31 to May 26, 2014 by submitting original waffle recipes through the Facebook page, in the categories of breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner or dessert. Entries are open to U.S. residents and each submission will be judged on originality, taste appeal and visual appeal as depicted in the entry photo. In addition to the $10,000 grand prize, two finalists will each receive $2,500, and eight weekly winners will receive a year's supply of Eggo waffles.
Adding to waffle celebrations this spring, Eggo will celebrate "Waffle Wednesdays" in April by partnering with four "Chief Waffle Officers" for original recipes and recipe inspiration. The "Chief Waffle Officers" original recipes and cooking adventures will be featured on Eggo's Facebook page throughout the month.
