Electric Utility Industry Alliance Unveils New Wood Pole Sustainable Practices
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Dec. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Electric Utility Industry Sustainable Supply Chain Alliance (Alliance) announced today the release of a collection of sustainable practices in the areas of wood-pole manufacturing, purchasing, management and disposal/reuse. This document is based on research conducted between 2010 and 2013 including a detailed report by the Green Supplier and input from member and supplier experiences.
The document is made up of two parts. The first, provides a brief overview of the high-level sustainability practices in the area of wood-pole manufacturing, purchasing, management and disposal/reuse. The second part, accessible via the links in the tables, provide (where available) more detailed practices; details on specific practices; information on implementation costs, timing, strategies, lessons learned or resources.
The Alliance encourages utilities and suppliers to review the suggested list of practices in the report, identify gaps in their current activities and look to address them, starting with the guidance available in the additional detail tables.
