ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Association of Old Crows (AOC) is off to a powerful start to 2012 with last week's 42nd Collaborative Electronic Warfare Symposium, where nearly 400 participants viewed collaborative Electronic Warfare (EW) in a joint-force perspective.

Conference Chairman; Mike Herrera; EW Analyst, Joint Electronic Attack Compatibility Office NAWC WD Pt Mugu; said, "As the chair of the 42nd Annual Collaborative EW conference, it is apparent from our attendance that there is a great interest in learning more about collaboration with current and future EW systems. Our forces face greater challenges in executing operations by an EMS environment that is not only getting more congested, but faces an increasing chance of operating in a contested environment.

"Despite fiscally challenging times, there is great value in providing a venue for EW professionals to meet and share relevant EW information. This promotes the kind of horizontal collaboration among EW professionals that provides attendees with the contacts or information required to take their EW products, experimentation, research, or training to the next level, which ultimately benefits the warfighter."

The symposium began its unclassified portion on January 24th at the Ronald Regan Presidential Library.  Beginning with a keynote speech on collaborative EW, Vice Admiral Architzel, Commander of Naval Air Systems Command, discussed how collaborative EW should emphasize warfighting first, operating forward, readiness, and interoperability.  Other notable speakers included RADM Mat Winter, Col Gregory Breazile, Col Stephen Ling, and Lt Gen Dave Deptula (Ret.).

The classified discussions on the 25th and 26th, held at the Naval Air Station Point Mugu, were headed by Rear Admiral William E. Leigher, Director of Warfare Integrations for Information Dominance (OPNAV N2/N6F),  and Lt. Col. David "Bull" Smith, NAWCWD Military Deputy for Electronic Warfare (EW) Readiness.  These classified days covered topics such as: Collaborative EW Effects across Domains; Distributing Cyber Testing; Cooperative Electronic Attack (EA); and EW Battle Management.

AOC is a non-profit international Electronic Warfare/Information Operations (EW/IO) association which promotes electromagnetic spectrum operations and related activities across military, civilian and commercial applications.  It is the mission of the AOC to advance strategy, policy and programs for EW/IO, and electromagnetic spectrum operations.
