Emergency Prep Training Family Style

PLANO, Texas, June 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- When tornadoes come to town, does your family know what to do? To help North Texans prepare for severe weather and other emergencies, World Vision is sponsoring a Prep2Bless Emergency Preparedness Training/Expo, Saturday, June 21st 8:30-1:00pm in Plano.  "Prep2Bless is a free event with hands-on-training for the whole family," says Lynn Scarborough, Director of Prep2Bless. "Prepping doesn't have to be complicated, expensive or time consuming; we want everyone to have a 72- hour Emergency Kit and Family Plan."

Prep2Bless is a unique community event with over 20 workshops, demonstrations, information tables and free gifts for every family. Hosted by North Dallas Community Bible Fellowship (NDCBF) in Plano for the second year, and back by popular demand, the expo opens at 8:30 a.m. and workshops begin at 9:00 a.m. Registration for child care and attendances is requested as space is limited.

The Prep2Bless offers workshops including – How to Build a 72 hr. Emergency Kit, KnoWhat2Do!, Shooter in the Building,  Help - NO Power!, Food Storage, What about Mom? Caring for Elderly/Special Needs, Container Gardens, Don't Drink the Bugs, Be a CERT, and more!

Local and regional Emergency Preparedness experts will provide materials, training and answer questions, including: City of Plano, World Vision, Operation Blessing, Collin County Human Health Services, Red Cross, Salvation Army, Victim Relief Ministries, Home Depot and others.  

Children can take a special training class with their parents. The Youth will build hundreds of Emergency kits for World Vision North Texas, a sponsor of the June 21 event. Phyllis Freeman, Director for Disaster Response, has spent decades helping children around the world, "Families that plan ahead for emergencies are more likely to reduce loss and recover more quickly."
