MANCHESTER, N.H., June 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Each day, countless organizations and individuals strive to improve access to the highest quality healthcare. This work comes in many forms; from those organizations that are lobbying for broader accreditation or the expansion of practitioner educational training to those who are opening their clinic doors each morning to care for patients. Today, as it announces the recipients of the 2016 Emerson Grant Program, Emerson Ecologics honors all of those working to expand access to integrative healthcare and provide exceptional patient care.
The Emerson Grant Program, an initiative that awards a total of $25,000 in funding to non-profit organizations, is proud to announce the 2016 recipients:
- Atlanta Birthing Center (ABC): $5,000 grant awarded to support Atlanta's first freestanding accredited birth center. Georgia has the highest maternal mortality ratio in the country and ranks as one of the lowest for infant health outcomes. ABC provides integrative care that includes midwifery, counseling, acupuncture, naturopathic medicine, nutrition, massage and chiropractic care.
- Illinois Association of Naturopathic Physicians: $10,000 grant awarded to support the association in their efforts to obtain full licensure for qualified naturopathic doctors and to create full access to safe and comprehensive naturopathic healthcare for the residents of Illinois. Currently only eighteen states have licensing laws for naturopathic physicians.
- Integrative Medicine for the Underserved (IM4US): $10,000 grant awarded to support IM4US, a collaborative, multidisciplinary group of practitioners committed to affordable, accessible integrative healthcare for underserved populations. Through outreach, education, research and advocacy, IM4US works to shift the current paradigm towards wellness, prevention, patient empowerment and self-care.
"Emerson Ecologics is committed to supporting organizations that are advancing integrative medicine," said Dr. Jaclyn Chasse, Vice President of Scientific and Regulatory Affairs for Emerson Ecologics. "We are honored to support these three groups in their effort to improve and expand integrative healthcare and make a lasting impact on patient health across our country."
