Energy Elite Program from Caruso Homes Eases the Burden on Your Wallet and the Environment
CROFTON, Md., April 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- With extreme winter and summer temperatures becoming increasingly common in Maryland, energy bills can skyrocket, taking its toll on both the environment and the average homeowner's wallet. The Crofton-based home builder Caruso Homes, however, has implemented an exclusive program to remedy the headaches homeowners get when their energy usage exceeds the average consumption.
The Energy Elite program, sponsored by Caruso Homes, guarantees that a homeowner's energy usage and subsequent bill will remain at a certain level. When construction is completed, a certified third-party energy rater conducts a full inspection of the home and measures its energy efficiency using the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index. The scale acts like a game of golf, with lower numbers indicating better energy efficiency. An energy usage guarantee level is assigned to each home. If the energy consumption as reported on the homeowner's monthly utility bill exceeds this level, then Caruso Homes will reimburse the owner for the additional amount they are billed. "The Energy Elite program is aimed at not only conserving energy, but also saving our homeowners money on their energy bills every month" said Jeff Caruso, owner of Caruso Homes. "Once their home has been given the Caruso Homes Energy Elite Certification, our homeowners have peace of mind knowing their home will save them money and be a healthier environment for their family to live in."
Caruso Homes use less energy than the average home from the moment they are built. The average HERS rating for an existing home in Maryland is 130 and 100 for the average new home. The average house built by Caruso Homes, however, has a HERS score of 70, which is 30% more energy efficient than the average new home built in Maryland. Caruso Homes is able to assure this standard with the energy efficient elements that are implemented into each new home, such as thicker insulation in the walls and attic, a 90% efficient HVAC system, a whole house ventilation system, energy star appliances and more. "Energy efficiency is one of our top priorities," said Caruso. "We're committed to incorporating healthy living, environmentally conscious construction and energy efficiency into every home we build."
