EnFocus Engineering Introduces Its Diamond-Power™ Hybrid "Daylighter" and Power Panel for Significant Electricity Offload from the Grid in Commercial Buildings during Day Time

SAN FRANCISCO, July 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- EnFocus Engineering, a 2011 Cleantech Open semifinalist in Green Building and winner of the 2007 Solar America Initiative Award from the US Department of Energy, announced its successful launch of Diamond-Power™, a hybrid "daylighter" and solar power panel, at the Intersolar North America Exhibit in San Francisco.

As the first product in the world that separates the soft component of sunlight to make daylighting dependable, uniform and lasting, it allows occupants to enjoy soft ambient light in perfect color rendering without the use of electricity. At the same time, it converts the harsh direct component of sunlight into power using solar cells with efficiencies exceeding 40%, while also reducing the heat load on the building. The combined power generation with cool daylighting offloads as much as 50% of the electricity from the grid in the daytime, at zero emissions, using merely 5% of the roof space. By attacking the energy equation from both sides it allows for a 5 year payback even without any government incentive.
