Entrepreneurs' Organization-Houston names 14 finalists for "Veterans Business Battle"
HOUSTON, Feb. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Fourteen veteran-owned businesses from across the country were selected to compete in the first-ever EO-Houston Veterans Business Battle. The finalists, selected by Entrepreneurs' Organization-Houston and Rice University's Veterans in Business Association from 146 applications, will pitch their business ideas to a panel of investors February 28 at Rice University.
"We were overwhelmed by the quality, innovative ideas that these veterans submitted," said Entrepreneurs' Organization-Houston President Mark Martin. "These finalists include all types of businesses, from new retail ventures to cutting-edge technologies. We are excited to see how investors respond to their ideas."
It is the goal of the Veterans' Business Battle to fund $1 million in veteran-owned businesses. The event will also feature learning sessions for people interested in starting businesses and a guest appearance by Lt. Col. Oliver North. Winners will be announced in the start-up category and the growth category, along with a voted-upon crowd favorite, at a dinner that evening featuring a keynote speech by Lt. Col. Oliver North. All finalists have the potential to receive investment offers. The objective of this competition is to launch and grow as many veteran-owned businesses as possible.
