Ephraim Oil VP of Technology to Teach in Saudi Arabia
Michael Fraim, Ph.D., will teach specialized petroleum engineering at KFUPM
SHREVEPORT, La., Aug. 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Michael Fraim, Ph.D., Vice President of Technology for U.S.-based Ephraim Oil, will join the faculty of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), an ARAMCO-backed University in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
Fraim will join as a Visiting Associate Professor, effective September 1, 2016. His courses will be in the field of petroleum engineering with specialized instruction in hydraulic fracturing, shale oil and gas development, CO2 and chemical enhanced oil recovery. He has a 2-year contract with a renewal clause.
Fraim holds several dozen U.S. patents and is an expert in application as well as a Professor of status for KFUPM.
According to Ephraim Oil CEO Bill Hamm, Fraim was chosen because of his 30 years' experience in the industry, as well as his familiarity with sonic stimulation, chemical enhanced oil recovery, and enhanced tar/heavy oil thermal recovery. Fraim added that he believes his background in both the industry and academia uniquely qualifies him to bridge the gap between the two. "I began working at Phillips Petroleum in the Research Center in the mid 1980s and received both my masters' and Ph.D. at Texas A&M University. In addition to my work with Ephraim Oil, I hold 63 patents covering individual needs in a large sector of the oil industry."
