EPS Security Partners With The Air Zoo And KlaasKids Foundation To Host Free "Child Safety Day"
Leading Security Provider to Donate $10 to Air Zoo Legacy Foundation for Each Child Fingerprinted
KALAMAZOO, Mich., Sept. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- West Michigan's leading security provider, EPS Security (EPS), will host a FREE child fingerprinting event at the Air Zoo in Portage on Saturday, Sept. 15 from noon to 4 p.m. The event, EPS Security Life Safety Day, aims to provide free child identification kits to the first 500 families that wish to participate. The program is free and open to the public.
This is the first year that EPS has hosted its Life Safety Day at the Air Zoo, located at 6151 Portage Road in Portage, Mich. Last year's Life Safety Day at John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids drew thousands of participants and more than 500 families received free child identification kits.
EPS has once again partnered with The KlaasKids Foundation, a leading child safety advocate group, to provide state-of-the-art child identification kits. The ID kits include a digitized fingerprint, an updated photograph, DNA Collection equipment and a nine-step action plan detailing what to do if your child goes missing.
In addition to the Child ID program, EPS will provide free snacks and beverages as well as fun activities like bounce houses and face painting for the kids. Local fire, emergency and police vehicles will be on display as well.
To further encourage participation, EPS has pledged a $10 donation to the Air Zoo Legacy Foundation for each child fingerprinted. The security company hopes to raise $5,000 of new funding for children's public programming at the Air Zoo.
"We say it often, but the alarm systems we install every day are just tools of our trade," said Kevin Carlson, president of EPS Security. "What we really provide our customers is an extra measure of safety, so this event is an extension of that premise. The added benefit of supporting the Air Zoo makes for a perfect day for your family at the museum."
KlaasKids founder, Marc Klaas, will be in attendance to underscore the importance of maintaining updated child identification records. Marc's own daughter, 12-year-old Polly Klaas, was kidnapped in 1993. More than one million children have been fingerprinted for free since Klaas began his foundation in 1994.
EPS Security Life Safety Day will be hosted outside of the Air Zoo; participation in the event does not include entry to the museum. The Air Zoo's general admission is $8 per person.
