Every Holiday Purchase Can Be Act of Charity
Shop to Build a Giving Fund for 2012
PORT CHESTER, N.Y., Nov. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Shopping for gifts that give back is a growing trend with more options than ever to do a little social good. A new website, called GiveBack.org, has evolved philanthropic gift giving to the point where every purchase is an act of charity. The site provides cash back to give to charity for any item bought from its nearly 500 national online retailers. The shopper can donate the money at any time to their favorite cause or causes, even one in their own community. GiveBack.org is unique in that it lets a person accumulate all the cash-back awards into one account for future giving and help as many causes as desired.
Shoppers can choose their charity recipients from the IRS database of 501 (3) (c) corporations, about 1.2 million organizations, ranging from local food banks, shelters and homework clubs, national medical research foundations to global relief groups. Says Stephen Paletta, founder of GiveBack.org, "The GiveBack.org model allows total freedom in giving. Our mission is to provide opportunities to make it easy for people to support the causes that are important to them." The site also makes it easy to track donations, providing one end-of- year report for tax filing.
Popular retailers on the site are Best Buy, Apple, Barnes & Noble, Macy's, Wal-Mart, Nike, Staples, Disney, Home Depot and Avon. Sources for holiday entertaining needs include Omaha's Steaks, 1-800-Flowers, Godiva and Cooking.com. Airline tickets, rental cars and hotels can be booked through the site as well, generating a hefty contribution into a shopper's charitable giving account. The GiveBack shopping site also features daily shopping specials and free shipping offers.
Merchants direct from 2 to 40% per cent of an item's purchase price into a shopper's foundation account set up on GiveBack. Members pay no processing fees to make a donation.
Maybe best of all, people can use the site all year long to purchase everyday essentials and keep building their fund for giving. Whether it's groceries, pet supplies, household goods, office supplies, kids shoes or automotive parts, every day shopping can do a world of good.
