The new facility is located at 5000 Arlington Center in Upper Arlington and it will be the first Expedient data center in the Columbus market and the eighth data center the company operates across six cities under three different wholly owned brand names. Expedient’s Data Centers typically serve a mix of local and national companies, who choose to host their critical business computer systems and applications in secure, utility-redundant facilities. “We believe that Columbus is the next logical place for us to expand, as we already have successful, growing and fully capable operations in the surrounding markets of Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Indianapolis,” said Bryan Smith Regional Vice President of Expedient. “Expedient will be the only service provider in the market with regionally diverse data centers, all offering a full complement of managed services and connectivity as part of our product suite,” added Smith.
The facility in Upper Arlington was used as an internal Data Center by the previous property owners, but Expedient will invest millions of dollars in market startup costs and improvements to the facility in order to meet the requirements of its customers. When complete, the new Data Center will include approximately 8000 square feet of raised floor computing space, which will support the company’s growth model for several years. Further, the company is immediately hiring several Engineers and Sales personnel with a projected staffing requirement of twelve to fifteen by Q1 2011.
The Data Center will have top tier features including; dual commercial power feeds, redundant generators, N+2 cooling systems, multi-carrier telecommunications infrastructure, multiple tiered security system, fire suppression system and a fully staffed, 24x7x365 Operations Support Center (OSC). Expedient has had a consistent pattern of strong growth over the years; the Columbus data center will be the third new facility the company has opened in as many years on top of several expansions to existing Data Centers. The other seven data centers are located in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis (dba nFrame), Boston and Baltimore (dba DataPoint).
Expedient will be hosting an Open House at the new Data Center later this year so that local technology leaders can preview the facility.
