PARIS and WASHINGTON, Sept. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In the U.S. and other nations, proponents of nuclear power often point to the supposedly swift progress and on-budget delivery of new nuclear power in other nations. But this grossly mischaracterizes the actual track record of the 66 reactors now under construction around the globe—including those in China so often touted as a model for what could be done faster and more cheaply in the U.S.—according to two experts who will comment on a detailed assessment during a live, phone-based international news conference on September 18, 2014.
A reactor-by-reactor accounting will be provided showing that the vast majority of nuclear reactors under construction are behind schedule. With updates on fresh setbacks for projects in Finland, South Korea and in the U.S., the global new-reactor progress overview will be most current of its kind.
