MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- eyebobs, purveyor of distinctive reading glasses geared toward independent thinkers, is introducing a limited-edition frame in two colors, "Take A Stand," to benefit Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C). Co-founded by Katie Couric in 2008, SU2C raises funds for collaborative cancer research that gets new treatments to the patients who need them quickly.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of "Take A Stand," available at Neiman Marcus, Allen Edmonds and eyebobs.com, among other retailers in the US and Europe, will benefit SU2C with eyebobs committing a minimum of $100,000.
Portraits taken by "The Boomer List" photographer and filmmaker Timothy Greenfield-Sanders anchor the initiative, which include Bryant Gumbel, Katie Couric, John Slattery, Veronica Webb, Michael Bolton, Nina Garcia and a rare self-portrait of Timothy Greenfield-Sanders wearing "Take A Stand" and also holding a placard that states, "I Stand Up For…"
There is a social component, too: Through December 31st, eyebobs will donate an additional two dollars for every person who posts an image wearing "Take A Stand," which retails for $79, using the hashtag #standwitheyebobs. What's more, customers who visit eyebobs.com will be able to print an "I Stand For" placard to accompany their social efforts.
"We are determined to raise a significant sum to support Stand Up To Cancer," says eyebobs founder Julie Allinson, "If there's one thing that unites all of us, it's that we know someone who has been affected by cancer, and this is our way of honoring them."
"Take A Stand" follows eyebobs' previous charitable initiatives, which include collaborations with chef and T.V. personality Andrew Zimmern, style icon Iris Apfel, and Katie Couric, among others.
eyebobs designs stylish eyewear for people who demand distinctive, high-quality glasses with an irreverent attitude and tongue-in-cheek names such as "Rita Book," Dot Com," "Catcher in the Eye," and "Board Stiff."
