ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Oct. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Faith Comes By Hearing (FCBH) has added nine new language recordings to their catalog of Audio Scriptures this month. Combined, these nine languages represent more than 54 million people who now have God's Word in audio available in their heart language. The new releases are:
- Hopi – USA
- Jamaican Creole – Jamaica
- Kafa – Ethiopia
- Kimre – Chad
- Mixe de Mazatlan Tutla – Mexico
- Muna – Indonesia
- Nigerian Pidgin – Nigeria
- Quechua North Junin – Peru
- Sindhi – Pakistan
Each of these recordings includes the complete New Testament, with the exception of Hopi – which has several select chapters from the New Testament. Of note, the Hopi recording is also the only new release that has a single reader, as opposed to the typical dramatized recording that includes multiple voices. The tribal leadership determined that it was culturally relevant to have the community's story teller present the recorded Scripture.
FCBH's catalog of Audio Scriptures now features a total of 683 languages, but that total changes regularly with new additions every month. Notably, New Testaments in 93 languages have been added in just the last 12 months. Spoken in virtually every country in the world, these recordings as a whole represent a potential outreach to more than 5 billion people – or in other words, two-thirds of the world's population.
Faith Comes By Hearing offers free access to these Audio Bibles through streaming, downloads and podcasts, while the Bible.is app for iPhone, iPad and Android devices offers access to God's Word right from the palm of your hand. Already the world's largest resource of digital Bible text and audio, this unprecedented access via the Digital Bible Platform continues to expand rapidly.
For those areas that do not yet have regular access to the Internet or mobile devices, Faith Comes By Hearing continues to reach out by providing Audio New Testaments on solar-powered Proclaimers for listening groups. More than 320,000 Proclaimers are literally proclaiming the Gospel around the world.
"The delivery system has never been our focus," states Jerry Jackson, FCBH founder and president. "Whether it be a village listening to a Proclaimer under a tree, a desktop computer, social media, smartphone, smart TV or whatever the delivery system of the future may be, the goal is to give every person the opportunity to hear God's Word in the language they pray in and in a format they can use."
The ministry's goal is to record and provide Audio New Testaments in every translated language, making the fulfillment of the Great Commission a reality in this generation.
Established in 1972, Faith Comes By Hearing is celebrating their 40th year in ministry throughout 2012.
