Family Connections Named a Mutual of America 2011 Community Partnership Award Winner Pittsburgh Nonprofit Adoption Agency Helps Hard-to-Place Children Find a Home
NEW YORK, Nov. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Mutual of America announced today that Family Connections was named an Honorable Mention recipient of the 2011 Community Partnership Award competition.
On any given day, 125,000 children in this country are living with no permanent family to love and support them. Family Connections guides each child through the child welfare system and prepares him or her for permanency. Once a family has been selected, in-home post-adoption support is provided, including parent coaching and individual and family therapy. The program is part of the Three Rivers Adoption Council, which is based in Pittsburgh and partners with private and state adoption agencies.
"Family Connections is all about matching the right family with the right child," says Jacqueline D. Wilson, CEO of Three Rivers Adoption Council. "To date, we have placed, or assisted in moving, nearly 5,100 abused, neglected and abandoned children out of foster care and into adoptive homes."
