WASHINGTON, Dec. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Family Research Council (FRC) President Tony Perkins made the following comments regarding language in the U.S. Department of Defense reauthorization bill:

"We are happy to see that Congress has included language in the Department of Defense reauthorization bill that will protect the conscience rights of chaplains and service members. This language provides for the protection of the First Amendment rights of all our men and women in the Armed Forces.
"Unfortunately, the bill at the same time expands tax-payer funding for some abortions in the Armed Forces. This is a disappointing change from past Defense authorization bills."
