Fantastic Four Shortlisted for US $100,000 Business Professor of the Year Award
World's top business professors will battle at live teach-off final in London on Thursday March 14th 2013
LONDON, February 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
The four shortlisted nominees for the EIU Business Professor of the Year Award have been announced. Launched by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), and supported by Hult International Business School, this is the only global award that recognises and rewards excellence in business teaching.
Over 30,000 students and alumni nominated and voted for 222 professors from 31 countries. The judges have now selected a shortlist of four strong contenders; Johanne Brunet from HEC Montreal (Canada), Darren Dahl from The University of British Columbia (Canada), Kevin Kaiser from INSEAD (France) and Vijay Sethi from Nanyang Technological University (Singapore). The four finalists will be flown to London to take part in a live teach-off on Thursday March 14th 2013.
Each professor will plan and present a short lecture to a live classroom audience on a topic of their choice. Candidates will be judged on their ability to engage students and communicate important ideas in an inspiring and memorable way.
Online viewers will be able to cast their vote online for their favourite professor; these will then be calculated electronically and the results will be presented to the in-room audience, comprising of undergraduate and graduate business students from international universities and colleges. The panel of judges will then also present their comments to the in-room audience. These business students will then have the final vote to determine the winning professor, having had the opportunity to take the online vote results and judges' comments into account when casting their votes.
Adrian Wooldridge, Management Editor, The Economist, comments: "This award aims to highlight those key professors that have engaged effectively with a class and made a significant difference to their education. It will also identify what constitutes good teaching, with the winning professor being awarded the world's highest distinction for business teaching."
President Dr. Stephen Hodges, Hult International Business School, said: "The EIU Business Professor of the Year Award is finally an opportunity for students and alumni to give something back to those that have inspired, challenged and guided them through their business education."
