Farmers Insurance Updates Claims Estimates Resulting From Severe Storm System that Swept Across the Country from May 18-23

LOS ANGELES, June 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- A system of severe weather moved through several states between the 18^th and 23^rd of May resulting in damaging winds, hail and flooding  in Colorado, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Montana, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia.  Farmers Insurance claims representatives, agents, other personnel and resources continue to be engaged and helping customers who suffered damage from these storms.

Farmers Chief Claims Officer Keith Daly noted that, through May 30, Farmers Insurance has had more than 11,900 customers file claims in these states as a result of damage from the severe weather. Farmers Insurance estimates that they will see more than 21,000 claims at a cost of $140 million as a result of this event.

"Farmers Insurance knows the importance of a quick response and speedy recovery for our customers," Daly said. "That's why the claims staff makes our customers their top priority."  Farmers Insurance claims staff has already closed approximately 4,600 of the more than 11,900 filed claims.
